Veronica Acosta, PhD


Dr. Veronica Acosta (she/her) is a licensed psychologist in Hawai‘i and California. She serves as a Clinical Lead for the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Division, Hawai‘i State Department of Health and an adjunct faculty for the Hawai‘i School of Professional Psychology at Chaminade University of Honolulu. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a doctoral emphasis in Multicultural Community-Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles. Her clinical training and experience have revolved around serving children, adolescents, and emerging adults with complex developmental trauma and systems-involvement in community mental health, correctional, residential, and psychiatric hospital settings. She has extensive research experience in qualitative methods, and BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and physical disability populations. Her passion is to provide and advocate for culturally- and trauma-responsive mental health care to marginalized communities involved in the justice system.
