Dr. Sam Dutton obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. He has been an active-duty psychologist for 23 years, initially with the U.S. Air Force, and subsequently with the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, serving under the U.S. Surgeon General, primarily detailed to the U.S. Navy. He completed his Postdoctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology from Alliant International University in 2010.  In addition to his therapy work with clients, he has been prescribing medicines since 2011.  He was initially licensed as a Medical Psychologist in Louisiana and now holds an Advanced Practice Medical Psychologist license.  He holds an adjunct faculty position at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine and is a member of APA Division 55, American Society for the Advancement of Pharmacotherapy.  He has given multiple presentations at APA National Conventions, Fairleigh Dickenson University, Argosy University, the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and state and regional psychological associations.  He is currently the only practicing prescribing psychologist in the State of Hawaii.
