Dr. Ralston provides therapy sessions via telehealth, video and audio. It's easy, secure, and you can have therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home. One only needs a computer, tablet or smartphone, and a strong internet connection.
Dr. Ralston has a specialized practice in which he provides treatment for adult women, including trans women, who as children or as adults, have experienced domestic violence, physical or sexual assault (abuse, rape, molestation), sexual harassment, motor vehicle accidents, or other serious and threatening events. Experiencing these events sometimes leads to trauma-related and / or PTSD-related symptoms such as increased fear, avoidance, irritability, guilt, shame, low self-esteem, and changes in how one views herself, others and the world. Dr. Ralston regularly treats all of these symptoms.
Dr. Ralston also treats adult women struggling with all forms of anxiety including panic, phobias, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety. Decades of studies have shown Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure & Response Prevention, and Prolonged Exposure to be the treatments of choice for overcoming anxieties and trauma.
Dr. Ralston attended a variety of public and private schools on O?ahu and Kaua?i, and later earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. While earning a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University – Hawai?i, he also worked at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, National Center for PTSD where he gained extensive specialty training in the assessment and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with a strong emphasis on treating Hawai?i's diversity of formerly battered women. He subsequently completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Department of Veterans Affairs Puget Sound in Washington where he treated veterans struggling with a variety of mental, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
Dr. Ralston is one of a few psychologists in Hawai?i who are board-certified in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology and a member in good standing with the American Board of Professional Psychology.
