He Ho’omaka Hou Ana O' Puna creates safe, new beginnings in Puna for women survivors of crime. Through Native Hawaiian cultural practices, mentorship, and select Western methods, the program nurtures healing, resilience, and connection—building a lifelong sisterhood rooted in compassion, empowerment, and shared journeys toward wellness and restoration.
As a result of this presentation, participants will be able to…
- Discuss the role of ʻaumākua and the importance of ancestral knowledge within trauma recovery
- Identify at least two (2) Native Hawaiian cultural teachings that support trauma healing and resilience, demonstrating how these practices can be integrated into daily life and service work.
- Identify at least two (2) effective strategies that highlight the importance of peer mentoring and community connection in fostering long-term healing, empowerment, and collective well-being.
